Bridgewater Woman Drove Wrong Way On Rt. 22 While Drunk: Police

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A Bridgewater woman who drove the wrong way on Route 22 in Readington was charged with driving while intoxicated on Thursday, police said.
On Dec. 4 just before 1 a.m. Readington Police Officer Jack Mazellan saw a car, driven by Ongelique Shariff, 39, of Bridgewater, going the wrong way on Route 22. The car was going east on the westbound side near Ridge Road, police report.
Mazellan stopped the car stopped at the intersection of Route 22 and County Line Road when he smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle, police report.

Shariff failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, police said.
Shariff was taken to headquarters where she was processed and issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, traveling the wrong way on a one way street, speeding, failure to possess registration or insurance cards, and making improper turns, police said.

Shariff was released from police custody to a sober adult.
