Bridgewater Yoga Studio Will Help ‘Souls Fall In Love With Themselves’

Amate Society will host a 2-day grand opening celebration with free classes on Nov. 10 and 11.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Somerville local Jennifer Elise Kimak and Piscataway local Bridget Eccles are opening a unique studio in Bridgewater to help others to love themselves and overcome any challenges through yoga.

Kimak and her girlfriend Eccles are planning to open Amate Society on Nov. 1 and will have a grand opening celebration on Nov. 10 and 11.

Roughly translated the name of their studio means to love yourself in Latin and in middle English it also means to overcome.

“Those are two really great things that we are trying to build here,” Kimak said. “We are building a community of people to love themselves and overcome whatever it is someone needs to overcome.”

“Yoga helped me and my girlfriend,” Kimak said.

Kimak is currently a yoga instructor at Hip Lifestyle Yoga Studio in Somerville, which is closing. However, Kimak's love for yoga began much earlier in her life.

“For me I started yoga in high school and traveled all over the world after college,” Kimak said. “I went to Spain and Mexico and lived in Africa for a little bit. Yoga was the one thing I could take with me through all the traveling.”

Eventually Kimak wanted to learn more about the philosophy side of yoga and took a training class which eventually lead to her becoming a teacher.

“I started teaching to make extra money and fell in love with it,” Kimak said. “I have been teaching now for five years.”

Kimak has taught in Somerville, Berkeley Heights and Florham Park. She is excited now to open her very own studio with Eccles.

However, Kimak says her studio will offer much more than yoga.

“Think of it more as a community space,” Kimak said. “We will have a yoga program and fitness classes and classes that the community is interested in.”

During the two-day grand opening special, a free class followed by a celebration will be held on Nov. 10 and an all-day free class festival will be held Nov. 11.
