Large Brush Fire In Somerville Under Investigation
The cause of the fire on Monday afternoon is under investigation by Somerville officials.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — A large brush fire that spread to a nearby restaurant in Somerville is under investigation on Monday.
The brush fire was reported around 1:45 p.m. at 30 S Doughty Ave. in Somerville with an extension to a restaurant, according to Central Jersey Fire Buffs.
Somerville Fire Department was called to the area of New Street and Veterans Memorial Drive for the reported brush fire.

Firefighters found a large brush fire and smoke was visible from the adjacent building (which houses Joe's Meat Market, Magic Touch Massage Therapy, and Casa Luna)near the top of the overhang.
Raritan Firefighters were also called to help.

Firefighters were able to knock the fire down and they also opened up the overhang/soffit to find some of the fire that spread, according to Somerville Fire Department.
Minor extension of the fire was extinguished.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Somerville Fire Prevention.
