Car Engulfs In Flames, Keeps Raritan Firefighters Busy

The fire broke out on Sunday morning in the borough.

RARITAN, NJ — Raritan Volunteer Firefighters were busy on Sunday morning extinguishing a car fire.

At 8:21 a.m., Raritan Volunteer Fire Department were called to a car fire with possible exposure to a home and power lines, according to Raritan Borough Fire Department.

The car was found fully engulfed in a driveway on Thompson Street, said Fire Chief Brian Kredatus.

All visible fire was extinguished before fire crews checked for more exposures with the thermal imaging camera.

Firefighters then cut the hood open on the car to extinguish the remaining fire in the engine compartment, according to Raritan Borough Fire Department.

The fire was extinguished and the scene cleared in under an hour.
