Car Trying To Avoid Raccoon Crashes Into Embankment, Tree In Warren

In a separate crash, another car crashed into a pole and fire hydrant after its brakes failed on Tuesday.

WARREN, NJ — Two car crashes were reported on Tuesday in Warren with one involving a raccoon and another with failed brakes.

On May 30 at 1:35 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Hillcrest Road just north of Mountain Avenue in Warren.

The 61-year-old driver from Brown Mills was able to escape on his own before officers arrived, said Warren Township Police.

The driver was taken to Overlook Medical Center.

An investigation found that the car was driving northbound on Hillcrest Road when it failed to stop due to a brake failure, drove through the intersection of Mountain Avenue, and hit a traffic signal support pole and hydrant, said police.

No summonses were issued.

On May 30 at 2:46 p.m., Police found a single-vehicle crash with an injury on Old Stirling Road at Mountain Avenue.

The car had left the roadway and hit an embankment and a tree to avoid a raccoon, said police.

The 17-year-old driver from Green Brook declined medical attention. The on-call tow company removed the vehicle from the scene.
