Contractor Who Allegedly Took $2K, Never Did Job In Raritan Arrested
Multiple homeless men were also charged for sleeping at the Raritan Train Station and Frelinghuysen Park, according to the police blotter.

RARITAN, NJ — A contractor was arrested for theft after he allegedly took money from a Raritan resident for a job but never that he never performed.
Jeffrey Schnettler, 59, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania was charged with theft by deception as result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division on Oct. 2.
The charges stem from July 10 when Schnettler and his company, Fine Line Remodeling LLC agreed to perform contracting work for a Raritan resident. Schnettler took a $2,000 down payment and never performed any work for the victim, police reported.

On Oct. 1: Carl Judge, 49, of Mahwah, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Raritan Borough Municipal Court for driving while intoxicated.
On Oct. 2: A Hillsborough resident reported that $899 worth of lawn and garden equipment was stolen from a property that she owns on First Avenue. An investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division.
On Oct. 2: Three men entered the AT&T Wireless store on Route 202 and shoplifted $540 worth of electronics from the business. An investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division.
On Oct. 2: Juan Rodriguez Arriaga, 30, of Plainfield, was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) and driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on West Somerset Street.
On Oct. 2: Tahmen Street, who is homeless, was issued a summons for sleeping inside the Raritan Train Station. Street was referred to Social Services for housing assistance.
On Oct. 2: Ayanna Shumate, 21, of Somerset, was arrested on an active traffic warrant out of the Raritan Borough Municipal Court.
On Oct. 2: A Raritan juvenile reported that his $200 scooter was stolen from outside the Dollar Tree on Route 206 while he was inside shopping.
On Oct. 5: Charles Kruger, who is homeless, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Raritan Borough Municipal Court for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
On Oct. 5: A 31-year-old Bridgewater man was charged violating a restraining order after it was discovered he accessed his ex-girlfriend’s bank account to pay a utility bill. The names are being withheld because the incident involved domestic violence.
On Oct. 6: Patrick Borland, 47, of Manville, was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) following a motor vehicle stop on East Somerset Street.
On Oct. 8: A 29-year-old Flemington resident was arrested for criminal mischief after he punched his girlfriend’s front car window out on West Somerset Street. The names are being withheld because the incident involved domestic violence.
On Oct. 9: Harren Richardson, 47, who is homeless, was arrested on active warrants out of Jersey City and Hoboken after he was spotted sleeping in a baseball dugout at Frelinghuysen Park on Sherman Ave. Richardson was later released and issued another summons the same day for sleeping at the Raritan Train Station. Richardson was referred to Social Services for housing assistance.
On Oct. 10: Gerald Banks, 46, of Somerville, was arrested for a warrant out of the Somerville Municipal Court following a motor vehicle stop on East Somerset Street.
