Cory Aldridge Homers 3 Times To Lead Patriots To 5-4 Win

Bridgewater, NJ- Cory Aldridge homered three times to lead the Somerset Patriots to a 5-4 win over the Long Island Ducks in Game 3 of the Atlantic League Championship Series before 6,849 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday night. The Patriots cut the series to 2-1.

 

Aldridge’s third homer of the game came in the bottom of the tenth inning with the score tied 4-4. He now has the Atlantic League record for most home runs in a single post season with six.

The Ducks took a 2-0 lead on an RBI double by Adam Bailey and an RBI single by Ramon Castro in the top of the second inning.

Long Island added a run in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Castro that made the game 3-0.

 

Somerset got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on their first hit, a solo home run by Aldridge, that made the score 3-1.

 

Aldridge hit his second home run of the game to cut the lead to one in the sixth.

 

The Ducks answered in the seventh on an RBI single by Josh Barfield to extend the lead to 4-2.

 

Adam Donachie homered (1) in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 4-3.

 

A solo homerun by Yunesky Sanchez (1) in the bottom of the eighth tied the score at four.

 

Jon Hunton (1-0) picked up the win, pitching two scoreless innings. Erick Threets (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up a run in 0.2 innings of work.
