See Somerset County's Latest COVID Case Numbers
New Jersey broke records at the end of last week hitting over 15,000 cases in one day. Here is a look at how Somerset County is faring.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The coronavirus continues to take a grim toll on New Jersey and Somerset County, causing a rippling effect in local schools and communities, according to updated state data.
The state Department of Health's most recent "COVID-19 Activity Level Report," which is issued weekly, says Somerset County is in the "orange zone" for coronavirus cases.
Somerset County reported 468 new cases on Thursday, Dec. 23 alone, according to the Somerset County Health Department.

This is an increase of around 33 percent or 153 cases since the week prior on Friday, Dec. 17 when 315 cases were reported.
In total, the county has seen more than 33,300 total cases and 784 deaths since the pandemic began.

As cases soar in New Jersey, all Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas healthcare facilities announced Thursday that visitors are restricted beginning on Sunday, Dec. 26 due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the community. Read More: No Visitors Allowed At RWJBarnabas Hospitals As COVID Cases Surge
"The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors and staff is our number one priority," according to the healthcare system.
No visitors will not be allowed beginning Sunday, Dec. 26, until further notice in every RWJBarnabas Health hospital and healthcare facility including inpatient acute care, Emergency Departments, Behavioral Health and outpatient services.
