COVID, Roads, Vaccines: What's Ahead In Bridgewater In 2021

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The new year will bring new beginnings – but still some headaches – after a year of illness, strife and tragedy in Bridgewater.

Bridgewater can expect continued coronavirus restrictions, but there is hope for a vaccine that could finally end the coronavirus crisis that's shut down schools and businesses.

Here's what's coming in 2021:

Somerset County Rolls Out COVID-19 Vaccine For Health Workers

Somerset County began administering the COVID-19 vaccine to health workers on Tuesday and is currently identifying sites where it can safely and quickly provide vaccines to the public once available.

The primary vaccination site will be at Raritan Valley Community College, and smaller sites are currently planned for the Bridgewater Senior Center, Quail Brook Golf Course in Franklin, and Warrenbrook Golf Course in Warren.

COVID-19 Nurse Is First To Get Vaccine At RWJ Hospital Somerset

While Somerset County health officials received the Moderna vaccine, the hospitals such as Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset began administering the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer, Inc. to its staff last week.

Bridgewater Ranks Roads From Best To Worst, Creates Plan For 2021

In Bridgewater, residents can expect to see roadways getting repaved. The township council is proposing a plan to spend $8 million over the next 5 years to remedy the roadways after all of 600 township roadways were assessed and ranked from best to worst.

Updated Bridgewater School Election Totals As More Votes Counted

The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School Board will see two board members sworn in to take over two, three-year seats. Jessica Levitt and incumbent Barry R. Walker won the election for the seats on the board this past November.

Advance Realty Appeals Center Of Excellence Court Ruling

The Center of Excellence saga will continue into 2021 as Advance Realty is appealing the court's ruling in favor of Bridgewater. Somerset County Superior Court Judge Thomas Miller had ruled in November in favor of Bridgewater Township in Advance's lawsuit. The suit, filed in January, claimed that the Planning Board had unjustly withheld final site plan approval for the grocery store and hotel at their site on the former Sanofi-Aventis property on Route 202/206.
