Downtown Somerville's Fashion Statement Continues With Opening of K Bella Boutique

New stores, great restaurants, special events add to appeal of Somerset County's "downtown."

Downtown Somerville’s emergence as a fast-growing center for fashion-focused retail stores and boutiques continued with the recent grand opening of K Bella Boutique at 72 W. Main Street.

Bridgewater resident Kristin Antonelli and her business partner Kate Reinhardt used their experience as the owners of popular fashion boutiques in Chester and Andover and a shared sense for the hottest styles and trends to create a women’s accessories boutique with the most up-to-date jewelry, handbags and more.

In this summer’s #SomervilleSomerLovin Contest sponsored by the Downtown Somerville Alliance (DSA), the partners shared their excitement for K Bella’s future. “We couldn’t be happier to join this community,” Antonelli and Reinhardt stated. “There is so much happening we wouldn’t want to miss being a part of not only what Somerville is today, but what it’s going to be.”

At a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, Assemblyman Jack M. Ciattarelli noted that the opening of new businesses like K Bella Boutique is no accident. “Strong local leadership, effective planning and partnerships are behind Somerville’s emergence as Somerset County’s economic engine and the reason that people are bullish and positive about the future in Somerville.”

Somerville Mayor Brian Gallagher expressed his admiration for the young entrepreneurs who are bringing new energy and ideas that are contributing to the downtown’s transformation.

Councilman Tom Mitchell added that Somerville is reclaiming its reputation as Somerset County’s downtown and recent growth has been driven in part by local business owners, organizations and representatives working together with a small-town spirit of cooperation reminiscent of days past.

While K Bella carries top designer names like Vera Bradley, Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade, the store offers a wide variety of gifts from the affordable to the luxurious, including the popular Chavez for Charity Bracelets for only $10.

“Don’t let the word “boutique” scare you,” Antonelli concluded. “To us it means originality, great service and selection, not high price tags. Stop in. We have something for everyone.”
