Driver Charged With DWI In Head-On Crash In Raritan

RARITAN, NJ — A Flagtown woman was charged with driving while intoxicated following a head-on crash on Wednesday night in Raritan.
At 11:37 p.m. on Wednesday, Kayla McKeever, 22, of Flagtown was driving a 2018 Kia Optima north on First Avenue when she crossed the double yellow lines and struck a Mazda M6 head-on near First Street, Raritan Police Officer Joseph Nepomuceno reported.
The driver of the Mazda, a 28-year-old Raritan resident, and his passenger received minor injuries and both declined medical assistance.

While speaking with McKeever, Nepomuceno detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from McKeever's breath. McKeever was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville to be evaluated, police said.
McKeever's blood was drawn at the hospital and the toxicology results are pending.

McKeever was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, use of a cellular phone and failure to maintain lane, police said.
