Bridgewater, NJ- The Long Island Ducks defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-0 in front of 7,927 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening. With the win, the Ducks clinched the final spot in the Atlantic League Playoffs by winning the Liberty Division Second Half Title.
Long Island struck first in the sixth inning on a fielder’s choice by Bryant Nelson for the 1-0 lead.

The Ducks rallied to plate three more runs the following inning on an RBI base hit by Dan Lyons and a two run single by Lew Ford to make the score 4-0.

Shaun Garceau (2-1) picked up the win with a complete game shutout that included eight strikeouts. Patriots starter Graham Taylor (10-6) suffered the loss, surrendering a run in six innings of work.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks.
