Ducks Take 2-0 Lead In Series

Central Islip, NY – The Long Island Ducks (5-0) defeated the Somerset Patriots (3-2) 3-2 Thursday evening from Bethpage Ballpark in Game Two of the Atlantic League Championship Series. The Ducks lead the best of five series 2-0. 

 

In the top of the second inning shortstop Angel Sanchez tallied an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage.

The Patriots added a run in the top of the fourth inning as first baseman Jeff Baisley clubbed an RBI single to expand the lead to 2-0.

The Flock plated three runs in the home half of the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead, which would be the final. Center fielder Lew Ford spanked a two run home run (1) to left field while third baseman Bryant Nelson recorded an RBI single.

 

Shaun Garceau (1-0) earned the win tossing seven innings allowing two runs on eight hits. Roy Merritt (1-1) suffered the loss going six innings allowing three runs on four hits. Leo Rosales (2) notched his second consecutive save in as many days. 

 

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue tomorrow night when the Patriots host the Long Island in Game Three of the Atlantic League Championship Series.
