DWI Driver Threatens To Have 'Cartel Members Kill' Raritan Cops: Blotter
A man was also charged with stealing eight cans of Red Bull and a Tasty Cake at Quick Chek in Raritan, according to the police blotter.
RARITAN, NJ — A Somerville man charged with driving while intoxicated threatened to have "Cartel members kill" Raritan Police Officers, according to the recent police blotter.
On March 2 at 4:12 p.m., Raritan Patrol Officers were called to Reimer Street for a motor vehicle accident.
While investigating the accident, officers arrested Jose Rueda-Toxqui, 34, of Somerville for driving while intoxicated, according to Raritan Police Chief Raymond Nolte.

After officers took Toxqui to headquarters, he reportedly threatened officers by telling them he would have "Cartel members kill them," said Nolte.
Toxqui was charged with terrorist threats, refusing to submit a breath sample, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and careless driving. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

After an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division, Louis Padilla, 45, of Edison, was charged with shoplifting from the Quick Chek on West Somerset Street. Raritan Patrol Officers were dispatched to the Quick Chek on West Somerset Street on Jan. 9 for a shoplifting. The investigation revealed eight cans of Red Bull valued at $22 and a Tasty Cake valued at $4 were taken. Padilla was issued a complaint summons with a pending court appearance.
On Feb. 27, Kelly Josek, 38, of New York City, was charged with theft by deception following an incident at PC Richards on Nov. 14, 2023. The Criminal Investigation Division was alerted by NYPD Detectives that Josek used the identity of another to make an internet purchase at PC Richards in Raritan totaling $1,669.05. Josek was charged with theft by deception and issued a complaint summons. A court appearance is pending.
On Feb. 29 at 8 p.m., Raritan Patrol Officers were dispatched to the Quick Chek on West Somerset Street for a trespassing complaint. On scene, officers learned that Jesse Panyko, 40, of Manville was acting disorderly in the business and had been given a prior warning that he had been trespassed. Panyko was issued a complaint summons for trespassing and a court appearance is pending.
On March 3 at 11:56 p.m., Nicholas Veglatte, 39, of Whitehouse Station, was arrested on a warrant following a motor vehicle stop on Route 202. Veglatte was wanted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office for Terroristic Threats. Veglatte was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
