SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion, Somerset County is looking to eliminate the Port Reading Secondary South Main Street Grade Crossing that connects Bound Brook and South Bound Brook.

As a result, the Somerset County Office of Planning, Policy and Economic Development and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) will be hosting a virtual meeting to inform the public about the recently conducted “Freight Concept Development” (FCD) study.

At the meeting, the public will learn about the FCD’s recommendations for eliminating the Port Reading Secondary South Main Street Grade Crossing due to traffic congestion that occurs during gate closures in Downtown Bound Brook as well as South Bound Brook and Middlesex Borough.
