Firefighters Battle Large Forest Fire Over The Weekend In Somerset County: Video

Volunteer firefighters from Somerset, Middlesex, and Hunterdon counties all came on Saturday to help extinguish the multiple-alarm fire.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Volunteer firefighters from Somerset, Middlesex, and Hunterdon counties all worked for hours to extinguish a multiple-alarm forest fire over the weekend in Bridgewater Township.

On Saturday at 8:58 p.m., Green Brook and Dunellen fire departments were called to Route 22 in Green Brook for a brush fire.

Firefighters could not find the fire at the location and began driving west on Route 22 toward Bridgewater.

Finderne Fire Department went to the area of Brandywine Assisted Living and found a large fire in the woods at 9:09 p.m.

"Crews worked for several hours to contain the forest fire. Because of the efforts by all departments on the scene, we are proud to report that no structures were damaged during this incident," said Finderne Fire Department.

As a result of the fire, N Mountain Avenue in Bridgewater and Morning Glory Road in Warren were closed.

"We are extremely grateful for your assistance as these types of incidents aren’t common within our fire district," said Finderne Fire Department.

The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.
