Flood Damages Bridgewater Schools, Pushes Back Start Date

The school district will use two emergency days on Thursday and Friday. The first day of school for all students will now be Sept. 13.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The remnants of tropical storm Ida has damaged several schools in the Bridgewater-Raritan district causing the first day of school to be pushed back.

Crim Primary School, Hamilton Primary School, and the Middle School were damaged by the recent storm and are in need of varying levels of remediation, said Superintendent of Schools Robert Beers.

As a result, the school district will use two emergency days on Thursday, Sept. 9, and Friday, Sept. 10. The first day of school for all students will now be Monday, Sept. 13.

"I understand this decision will be disruptive to families throughout the district, but we want to follow procedures that ensure the safety of our learning environments. We appreciate the kind offers of help from the community and will work through our school organizations to coordinate our efforts," said Superintendent of Schools Robert Beers.

Parents should be on the lookout for more information from their building principal on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
