Route 22 Reopens Following Flooding In Somerset County Area

Local town roadways were also closed due to flooding on Tuesday morning in Somerset County.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Flooding was reported across Somerset County on Tuesday morning, most roadways have reopened some remain closed.

All lanes on Route 22 west at Chimney Rock Road are now open following a closure on Tuesday morning, Bridgewater Police said around 12:40 p.m.

All lanes on Route 22 east in the same area is also reopened.

Route 22 West at the intersection of Rock Avenue has reopened.

Other closures:

  • On the Bridgewater and Branchburg border, Old York Road is closed.
  • Green Brook - Greenbrook Road between Washington Avenue and Madison Avenue is closed as of 8 a.m.
  • Readington - Route 22 West along with Pleasant Run Road and Lamington Road.
  • In Hillsborough, flooding has closed roads including Riverside Drive between Clawson and Mill Lane, and Three Bridges between Woodfern and Hockenbury.
  • In Montgomery, County Route 533 is closed between Bridgepoint Road and Dead Tree Run.
  • In Bedminster, River Road East between Matthews Drive and Cowperthwaite Road is closed.
  • In Warren, Washington Valley Road between King George Road and Brady Road is closed. Also Valley Road between Spring Valley Road and Liberty Corner Road.
  • In Franklin, the Griggstown causeway and Blackwells Mills are closed.
  • In Mountainside, Route 22 remains closed in both directions at Glenside Rd near Robinhood Rd with a downed tree and electric wires.

A flash flood warning remains in effect for Somerset County through 8:15 a.m. and a flash flood watch until 8 p.m.
