GoFundMe Established For Family Of Woman Hit, Killed On Route 28
A GoFundMe for the family of a woman who died after being hit by a car in Bridgewater last week has raised more than $16,000.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A GoFundMe for the family of a woman who died after being hit by a car in Bridgewater last week has raised more than $16,000 to help her husband and baby daughter.
Kelsey Benson, 28, of Hopatcong was hit by a car last Sunday, June 5, while she was walking on Route 28. Police said the driver of a 2008 Lexus hit Benson around 12:46 a.m. Members of the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Paramedic unit tried to revive her, but pronounced her dead at the scene.
Funds will support Benson's husband Joe and 18-month-old daughter Amelia.

Benson, born Kelsey Ellen Gleason, grew up in Wayne and graduated from Wayne Valley High School in 2011. She had lived in Hopatcong for six years, according to her obituary. She was a receptionist for Basil Castrovinci Associates, the obituary stated.
Several other pedestrians have been fatally hurt while walking on Route 28 in recent years.
