Little Gym Hillsborough Raises Funds for The Jerry Davis Center

Hillsborough, NJ: The Arc of Somerset County’s Jerry Davis Center for Children and Families (JDCCF) was the recipient of funding from a local fundraiser held by members of The Little Gym of Montgomery/Hillsborough. For the second year in a row, funds were raised from a variety of festive events from September through October leading up to the Trunk or Treat event Saturday, October 22nd. A total of $1,050 was collected by the families and community of The Little Gym Hillsborough.

This year, the proceeds are restricted to the repair and renovation of our Jerry Davis Center Playground. The Jerry Davis Center for Children and Families is a program run by The Arc of Somerset County. The program is an integrated daycare and preschool for children with and without intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Christopher Corvino, Executive Director of The Arc of Somerset County states: “We are so grateful for this partnership with our friends at The Little Gym of Hillsborough through their annual event. These funds raised will make an immediate impact for the children we serve, it is imperative that we continue to provide safe, licensed environments at all times, in all aspects of our program and facilities”. " This upcoming work will include the replacement of our required soft-surface playground material - showing its age after many years of enthusiastic use. The installation will include improvements of seams to our hardscape surfaces to maintain barrier-free movement and ensure many years of soft landings as our students of all abilities enjoy the fresh air and integrated play – elements we consider vital to the emotional, social and physical development of the children we support. The mission of The Jerry Davis Center for Children and Families is to ensure every child's optimal growth and development. JDCCF's comprehensive, interdisciplinary programs are designed to meet the educational, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs of children who have a diverse range of abilities. The JDDCF is one of few day care programs in Somerset County New Jersey that offer a sliding scale fee based on federal guidelines and is the only day care in the county that offers sliding scale fees to families of a child with a disability.
