Local Restaurant Employees Involved In Fatal 287 Crash, Report Says

Ling Ling Restaurant in Basking Ridge to remain closed until Thursday, Dec. 3

A dozen employees from a local restaurant were involved in a major accident on Route 287 over the weekend, according to reports. Employees from Ling Ling Restaurant in Basking Ridge were riding in a van that struck a car that was parked in the shoulder, according to abc7ny.com.

Two of the employees died in the accident.

Ling Ling Restaurant remains closed until Thursday, Dec. 3 and have posted a sign on their front door at 665 Martinsville Road and also a note posted on their website linglingriverwalk.com.

“As you may have heard, due to a tragic accident, Ling Ling will be closed until December 3rd,” Ling Ling posted online. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends affected by this terrible tragedy. Words cannot express our grief for those we have lost far too soon.

“Please keep them in your thoughts as we work through this difficult time. We are grateful for the kind treatment we have received from the community these past 13 years and are thankful for your continuous support.”

The three-car wreck occured on Saturday night, Nov. 28 on 287 in Bernards Township.

New Jersey State Police say Ravi Naik was struck by a van after he pulled over because he hit a truck with a cattle trailer that was in the shoulder. Two passengers in the van also died.

Authoritries say the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes.

Troy Chase, 43, of Pittston, Maine, was driving a Dodge Ram truck with one passenger in the area of milepost 29.1 when he stopped on the right shoulder to repair the trailer he was towing.

That’s when Naik struck the cattle trailer then parked on the right shoulder and got out of his car.

A van, driven by Xu Feng Ma, had 12 passengers inside, believed to all be employees from Ling Ling Restaurant of Basking Ridge, when it went into the right shoulder, struck the guardrail, the cattle trailer, and then the Dodge truck, police said.

The van continued northbound on the right shoulder and hit Naik before traveling across the northbound lanes and striking the left guardrail. Chase, the driver of the Dodge truck, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Overlook Medical Center.

Two passengers in the van were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Some cows in the trailer also died, police said.

As a result of the crash, the following passengers in the Ford van sustained non-life-threatening injuries:

• Xu Feng Ma was transported to Morristown Medical Center

• Yupu Ma, 52, of Woodhaven, N.Y. was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

• Erick Jiminez, 18, of Morristown, N.J., was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

• Engleton Jiminez was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

• Hwa Chieng, 64, of Flushing, N.Y., was transported to Morristown Medical Center

• Tao Qing Wu, 59, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was transported to Morristown Medical Center

• Duong Quoc, 54, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was transported to Morristown Medical Center

• Yoxeng Tan, 55, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

• Huijo He, 55, of New York, N.Y., was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

• Gudiel Jiminez, 18, of Morristown, N.J., was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

• Kui Tung, 47, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital
