Lunar New Year Festivities Set For Bridgewater Commons

The two-day celebration will feature traditional performances, arts and crafts, and a magic show to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Commons will host its annual Lunar New Year celebration, welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse on Saturday and Sunday.

The free event, titled "Lunar New Year @ The Commons Celebration," continues a yearly tradition at the shopping center.

The celebration is held in partnership with The Center for Cultural & Creative Exchange (CCCE).

CCCE will present live performances, a magic show, and interactive Lunar New Year Zumba, signaling the start of spring and the new year. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Fire Horse symbolizes courage, forward momentum, and decisive action.

From 12 to 6 p.m. on both days, a Chinese arts and crafts workshop will be available at the Event Space, located on the Main Level by Vans. The workshop includes Chinese calligraphy and lantern making.

Additionally, traditional red envelopes filled with treats and special offers will be distributed to attendees.

Live performances are scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. These include a traditional Lion dance by Adam Cheung and Polaris, dances and Chinese Yo-Yo from the Murray Hill Chinese School, and an “It’s Just Life” performance by Dream Cats.

A Wedding Procession by CCCE and Polaris, a Mongolian Chopstick Dance, and a Magic Show with Eric Qiu are also planned.

Other performances feature a Dancing Ink contemporary Chinese dance by Hua Xia Editon Dance, a Yi Ethnic Dance by Raritan Valley Chinese School, and “Love You More Than I Can Say” by APT Troupe.

CCCE, established in 2019, is a New Jersey-based non-profit organization. Its mission is to preserve Chinese culture and heritage while promoting unity, harmony, and respect within the community.

The organization provides several cultural events annually, including The Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival.

Bridgewater Commons is located at 400 Commons Way along Interstate 287 at the intersections of Route 22 and Route 202/206.
