Major Nationwide Outage Is 'Resolving', NJ Comcast Customers Asked To Check Service

NEW JERSEY — A major outage across the nation including in New Jersey and Pennslyvania, seems to be resolving for Comcast Xfinity customers on Tuesday.

The intermittent service interruptions appear to be linked to a network issue and were affecting phones, internet and television services on Tuesday since 9 a.m., Xfinity said on Twitter.

As of 11:10 a.m., Xfinity updated customers to say the issue affecting service is "resolving." Customers are being asked to check their service to ensure they are back up and running.

"Earlier, some customers experienced intermittent service disruptions as a result of a network issue. We have addressed the issue and service is now restoring for impacted customers, as we continue to investigate the root cause. We apologize to those who were affected," said Xfinity. "If you are still having issues, please hold and we will connect you to an agent. Thank you for your patience."

Multiple police departments and municipalities in the state were also impacted by the outage as they reported issues to their phone service as a result including Scotch Plains and Roselle in Union County. Read More: Scotch Plains Police, Municipal Phones Are Down

911 is still working or residents who need to call for an emergency.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office also said the outage is affected internet, television and telephone service in the area. Read More: Widespread Comcast Outage Affecting Ocean County

Some reported outages as far as California.
