Major Storm Could Drop Sleet, Snow On NJ This Week: Forecast
A storm system will reach New Jersey Thursday, potentially bringing sleet and snow to some parts of the Garden State.
NEW JERSEY — A new storm system, that is expected to dump more than a foot of snow in the western U.S., is threatening to bring wintry conditions to New Jersey.
The National Weather Service said snow and sleet are in the forecast for parts of the Garden State making for messy commutes on Thursday and possibly into Friday.
"What we can say at this point is confidence has increased the area will see stormy weather Thursday into Friday. What remains less certain though is the details regarding exact timing and precipitation types," according to US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly.

A major storm taking shape in the central United States Monday through Wednesday is expected to lose intensity as it arrives in the eastern U.S. late in the week, but it could still bring wintry impacts.
"Disruption to travel could be a concern at the end of the week for the same major cities in the Northeast," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys warned.

The final chapter of this massive storm may occur in the northeast, according to Accuweather.
"While details are still to come, heavy snow and ice may be on the way for some as winter's grip takes hold across the country," according to Accuweather.
Early indications predict the precipitation will hit the southwest to the northeast part of the state during the day Thursday with the storm potentially lasting into a portion of Friday, said NWS.
Those in Northern New Jersey have a better chance of wintry precipitation over those at the coast who will most likely see rain.
The NWS shared a graphic from the Weather Prediction Center depicting the chances for greater than a quarter inch of precipitation (liquid equivalent) falling as snow or sleet.
"As you can see, chances for this are low near the coast but increase heading north to around 50 percent over the southern Poconos," according to NWS.
Forecasters are warning that the storm is still a few days out and predictions could change. More updates will be released as the storm creeps closer.
