Man Admits Robbing Bridgewater Bank In 2018: Attorney General

Myron Anderson, 40, of Newark admitted to robbing five banks, including one in Bridgewater, between October 2018 and January 2019​.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A Newark man admitted to robbing five banks, including one in Bridgewater in 2018, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Myron Anderson, 40, of Newark, pleaded guilty to a superseding information charging him with five counts of bank robbery and two counts of Hobbs Act robbery, Carpenito said.

Anderson admitted robbing the banks between October 2018 and January 2019.

The Bridgewater robbery happened on Nov. 14, 2018 around 8:30 a.m. at the Provident Bank on Union Avenue in the Finderne section of the township, Bridgewater Police report. Read More: Bridgewater Bank Robber Wanted By Police

It was reported that a man entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. The bank teller ultimately turned over cash to the man based on his demands, and he fled the bank on foot, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Anderson reportedly stole about $500 from Provident Bank. In total, he stole just over $14,000, according to court documents.

The other banks Anderson admitted robbing include:

  • Bank of America in Florham Park on Oct. 1, 2018
  • TD Bank in Hackensack on Nov. 13, 2018
  • Chase Bank in Nanuet on Nov. 15, 2018
  • TD Bank in Franklin on Jan. 14, 2019

Each count of bank robbery in which Anderson is charged carries a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for March 25, 2021.
