Man Arrested For Armed Robbery Of Gas Station On Route 22 In Somerset County

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Pennsylvania man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at gas station on Route 22 in North Plainfield from September 2023.

Elijah Nunnally, 27, of South 3rd Street, Allentown, Pennsylvania, was extradited on May 30 from Pennsylvania to New Jersey to face charges in relation to the Sept. 30, 2023 robbery, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at around 4:50 a.m., North Plainfield Police Officers went to a gas station located on Route 22 for a report of an armed robbery.

The gas station attendant reported to officers that an unknown man pulled into the gas station and asked the attendant to fill the gas tank. A few minutes later, the man exited his vehicle and pointed a handgun at the attendant demanding money, said McDonald.

The attendant turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect. The suspect warned the attendant not to say anything and then fled the area, said McDonald.

The suspect was identified as Nunnally following an investigation by detectives from the North Plainfield Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit.

On Oct. 5, 2023, charges of first-degree armed robbery, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon were authorized for Nunnally.

Nunnally was lodged in Lehigh County Jail on an unrelated matter and on May 30, 2024, Nunnally was extradited from Pennsylvania to New Jersey by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Task Force.

unnally was taken to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Somerville, where he was processed on charges stemming from the Sept. 30, 2023, armed robbery in North Plainfield.

Nunnally was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in this matter.
