May Art Contest

A new monthly initiative inspired by community feedback gives residents of all ages a chance to showcase their art

The Bridgewater Youth Council recently launched a May Art Contest as part of one of its new initiatives. A few months ago, the council distributed a survey asking residents about the improvements, developments, and issues they would like to see addressed in the township. Many responses indicated a desire for greater opportunities to express and celebrate art, which inspired the council to create a monthly art contest open to all age groups.

Below are the winning submissions. One of the colorful pieces featured is by 7-year-old second grader Nia Singh, whose artwork won in her age category. Participants in her age group were asked to draw or paint a spring landscape that showcased what they love most about the season. Another piece shown is created by Ravneet Kaur Mandla, a local artist whose work reflects how simple daily rituals can deepen our appreciation of the natural world. For the adult category, participants were challenged to create a scene that blends nature with man-made objects or structures.
