School Bus, Car Collide On Route 202 In Branchburg

One lane on the northbound side and the exit to North Branch River Road were closed as a result on Wednesday.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — A multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus caused delays on Route 202 in Branchburg near the Bridgewater border on Wednesday.

On Jan. 24 at around 4 p.m., Branchburg Police went to a call of a motor vehicle crash with injury on Route 202 North at North Branch River Road.

One of the involved vehicles was an unoccupied school bus (sole driver), and the other vehicle was a black VW Jetta (sole driver), said Branchburg Police Captain Edward Edgar.

The driver of the Jetta had a generalized complaint of pain, was assessed by Somerset Robert Wood Johnson EMS, and then taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the school bus did not report any injuries when police arrived.

It was determined that the school bus driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic before entering the northbound lanes of Route 202 which resulted in the crash, said Edgar.

The right lane of Route 202 North was closed for around 40 minutes until the crash scene could be cleared.
