Farm Stand Could Be Demolished, Replaced With Self-Storage Facility In Bridgewater

Bridgewater Storage LLC is looking to consolidate two lots occupied by Melick Town Farm and the Tetonic building on Routes 28 and 22.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A local farm stand and the long-vacant Tectonic building are being proposed to be demolished to make way for a three-story self-storage facility in Bridgewater.

An application filed by Bridgewater Storage LLC will be heard on at March 25 Bridgewater Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting.

The applicant is proposing to consolidate the properties at 351 Route 28 (occupied by Melick'sTown Farm) and 322 Route 22(vacant office building previously occupied by Tectonic.

The farmstand and Tectonic buildings would be demolished in order to construct a new 120,570 square-foot, three-story self-storage facility.

The application is seeking a number of variances including not being a permitted principal use in the C3 Zone; exceeding the maximum floor area ratio; front heard setback; and more.

The 5.47-acre Tectonic property has stood vacant for many years. Previously in 2015, Quick Chek proposed a plan for a 24-hour, 5,700-square-foot convenience market on the site.
