New Wood-Fired Pizzeria, Italian Restaurant Opens In Somerset County

IL Forno a Legna features over a dozen wood-fired pizzas and a variety of Italian classics.

RARITAN, NJ — A new Italian restaurant and wood-fired pizzeria has just opened in Raritan.

Il Forno a Legna is taking the place of Nik's Raritan Pub, at 53 W Somerset St., which closed in 2020 after an upstairs apartment fire caused extensive damage to the restaurant.

The Italian-style pizzeria is "dedicated to providing the highest quality pizza experience with all of our dishes cooked fresh daily in a wood-fired oven. Our mission is to connect people through delicious, homemade recipes that bring out the best flavors of traditional Italian cuisine," according to ilfornoalegnanj.com.

"We would like to give a warm welcome to Raritan’s newest restaurant, Il Forno a Legna! After opening two successful restaurants in Dunellen and Rahway, co-owner Robert chose Raritan as the restaurant’s next stop along the Raritan Valley line," wrote Raritan Economic Development Committee. "The restaurant boasts a robust menu that features over a dozen wood-fired pizzas and a variety of Italian classics. The vibe is warm, modern, comfortable, and ideal for both intimate and larger parties."
