Somerset County Freeholder Robert Zaborowski announced that the county Office on Aging and Disability Services is seeking nominations for the fifth annual “Profiles of Positive Aging” recognition. The program honors residents age 60 and above who inspire others and bring continuity to the fabric of their communities.
“Each year, the Board of Freeholders looks forward to honoring the diversity and vitality of our older residents,” said Freeholder Zaborowski, human services liaison. “In keeping with the national theme for Older Americans Month, “Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow,” we are recognizing individuals who motivate others to live longer, healthier and more engaged lives.”
Due by Friday, April 11, nominations can come from any source, including friends, self or organizations.

To be eligible for the 2014 “Profiles of Positive Aging” recognition, a nominee must:
- Be at least 60 years old and a resident of Somerset County;
· Contribute to the community by promoting health and safety. Examples include leading self-help groups, engaging in health-promotion activities, serving on health or safety committees, and participating in consumer protection projects.

- Have not been recognized for this award in the past.

Honorees will be notified by phone. Individuals will be recognized by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders on the evening of May 13, in honor Older Americans Month.
