North Plainfield Shooting Under Investigation: Prosecutor
A Friday night shooting that injured one individual in North Plainfield is currently under investigation, authorities said.
NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A Friday night shooting that injured one individual in North Plainfield is currently under investigation, authorities said.
The shooting, which occurred around 10:45 p.m. near Vermeule Park off of Clinton Avenue, injured a 20-year-old man, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and North Plainfield Chief of Police William G. Parenti announced Saturday. An initial investigation found that, prior to the shooting, the victim attended a large gathering/party at a nearby residence on Arnold Avenue.
At the scene, North Plainfield police officers found the shooting victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was treated at an undisclosed area hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Detectives from North Plainfield Police Department, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
Authorities are now attempting to determine a motive, and if a confrontation at the party led to the shooting.
