He also loved the thrill of competition, playing youth hockey with the Protec Ducks, Protec Predators, Hunterdon Bears, and the Bridgewater Raritan High School Panthers, according to the GoFundMe.
This past year, Collin took on the challenge of becoming a youth referee, giving back to the hockey community.
"Whether on the ice or off, Collin always had a kind word and a positive attitude, making everyone around him feel welcome and included," according to the GoFundMe.
Collin, a Latin student at the high school, also recently won a cum laude certificate in May for excelling on a national exam.

The GoFundMe has a goal of $25,000 with donations going directly to the family to help cover the costs of funeral expenses and allow them the space and time to grieve their profound loss.
