Patriots Need An Angel In 16 Inning Win In Game 4

Bridgewater, NJ- Angel Sanchez hit a bases loaded walk off single in the bottom of the 16th inning in Game 4 of the Atlantic League Championship Series to lead the Somerset Patriots over the Long Island Ducks 2-1 before 5,175 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night. The win evened up the Championship Series at 2-2 with a deciding Game 5 on Sunday at TD Bank Ballpark at 5:05 pm.

 

Cory Aldridge was hit by a pitch to lead off the 16th and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bobby Stevens. Jeff Baisley singled to move Aldridge to third, and after an intentional walk to Joe Holden, Sanchez drove home the game winner.

Long Island struck first in the third after a run came around to score when Dan Lyons grounded into a double play for the 1-0 lead.

Somerset scored in the bottom half of the seventh on an RBI single by Eddy Martinez-Esteve to tie the score up at one.

 

Derell McCall (1-0) picked up the win with 0.2 innings pitched to get out of a bases loaded jam in his first appearance of the post-season. Erick Threets (0-2) suffered the loss with 0.2 innings pitched.

 

Patriots starter Graham Taylor pitched eight innings, allowing a run on three hits. Ducks starter Bobby Blevins also allowed just one run over eight innings.
