Patriots Sweep Revolution

York, PA – The Somerset Patriots (29-17, 75-41) completed the three game midweek sweep of the York Revolution (20-28, 56-62) by winning 9-4 Wednesday night from Sovereign Bank Stadium in front of 4,877 fans. Somerset has won eight consecutive contests against York dating back to June.

In the top of the second inning first baseman Jeff Baisley hit a RBI sacrifice fly to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage. 

In the ensuing half inning York took a 2-1 lead as designated hitter Ruddy Yan recorded a RBI sacrifice fly and center field Kody Kirkland laced a RBI double.

Somerset retook the lead in the top of the fourth inning as catcher James Skelton sliced a RBI double and center fielder Jonny Tucker tallied a two RBI single giving the Patriots a 4-2 lead over the Revolution. 

The Patriots plated three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a commanding 7-2 lead. Left fielder Cory Aldridge drilled a RBI double. Baisley registered a RBI single while right fielder Jorge Cortes hit a RBI sacrifice fly.

Aldridge socked a RBI double in the top of the sixth inning to expand Somerset’s lead to 8-2. 

Aldridge registered another RBI via a fielder’s choice in the top of the eighth inning as the lead ballooned to 9-2 for Somerset.

In the bottom of the eighth inning first baseman Wilson Batista and third baseman Mark Teahen notched RBI doubles to cut the deficit to 9-4 which would be the final score. 

Josh Lowey (12-7) earned the win as he hurled seven strong innings scattering just two hits and two runs. Pedro Liriano (5-4) suffered the loss lasting only four innings while surrendering four runs.
