Patriots Top Revolution 5-3

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 5-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

 

Cory Aldridge (12) drove a solo homerun over the outfield wall in the second to get Somerset on the board for the 1-0 lead.

The Patriots rallied to plate four runs the following inning to extend their lead.  A sacrifice fly by Aharon Eggleston, a two run single by Yunesky Sanchez, and an RBI base hit by Corey Smith led the way for Somerset to make the score 5-0.

York scored in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Matt Spencer to cut the lead to 5-1.

 

An RBI groundout by Wilson Batista brought home a run for York in the eighth to make the score 5-2.

 

The Revolution tacked on a final run in the ninth for the 5-3 final.

 

Patriots starter Derell McCall (7-0) got the win after allowing a run in seven innings of work.  Corey Thurman (4-12) suffered the loss for the Revolution, surrendering five runs in five innings of work.  Jon Hunton came on to pitch the ninth inning to pick up his 33rd save of the season.
