Waldorf, MD – The Somerset Patriots (38-18, 84-42) defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (21-36, 58-68) 4-1 Sunday afternoon from Regency Furniture Stadium. The Patriots have won six in a row while the Blue Crabs extended their losing streak to seven.
In the bottom of the first inning the Blue Crabs scored on pitcher Josh Lowey’s throwing error to take an early 1-0 advantage.

Somerset plated three runs in the third inning to take a 3-1 lead. Right fielder Jorge Cortes slapped a RBI single and first baseman Yunesky Sanchez ripped a two RBI double.

In the top of the ninth inning the Patriots got an insurance run when catcher Adam Donachie sliced a RBI double to expand the lead to 4-1 which would be the final score.
Josh Lowey (13-7) earned the win as he tossed seven innings of no earned run baseball while striking out seven batters. Logan Williamson (5-2) suffered the loss as he hurled 5.1 innings surrendering three runs. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 35th save of the year.
