Patriots Win 5-4 To Sweep Revolution

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 5-4 in front of 6,791 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.

 

The Patriots took a 2-0 on an RBI single by Cory Aldridge and a sacrifice fly by Corey Smith.

An RBI triple by James Skelton and an RBI single by Jonny Tucker tacked on two more runs for Somerset in the second to increase their lead to 4-0.

York got on the board in the third on an RBI groundout by Ruddy Yan to make the score 4-1.

 

The Patriots answered right back with a run in the bottom half of the inning on a solo homerun by Corey Smith (17).

 

York rallied to score two in the fifth after Michael Hernandez scored on an error and Kody Kirkland came around to score later in the inning to make the score 5-3.

 

An error in the seventh by Somerset allowed another run to score for York to cut the lead to 5-4.

 

Patriots starter Graham Taylor (9-5) picked up the win for Somerset after allowing four runs in seven innings pitched.  York starter Zack Segovia (2-4) suffered the loss, surrendering five runs in 6.2 innings of work.  Patriots closer Jon Hunton came on to pitch a scoreless ninth to pick up his 34th save of the season.
