Lancaster, PA – The Somerset Patriots (39-19, 85-43) edged the Lancaster Barnstormers (31-28, 67-61) 7-6 in 10 innings Tuesday night from Clipper Magazine Stadium in the series opener.
In the top of the fourth inning Somerset scored three runs to take a 3-0 advantage. First baseman Jeff Baisley and designated hitter Yunesky Sanchez each clubbed RBI doubles while an additional run scored via a wild pitch by pitcher Rich Rundles.

Somerset added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Yunesky Sanchez sliced a two RBI single while right fielder Cory Aldridge recorded a RBI groundout.

Left fielder Kyle Russell launched a three run home run (5) to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh as Lancaster cut Somerset’s lead in half making the score 6-3.
Right fielder Ryan Harvey tied the contest at 6-6 as he blasted a three run home run (27) to left field with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
In the top of the 10th inning Baisley registered a RBI ground to put the Patriots in front 7-6 which would be the finale score.
Fernando Hernandez (1-0) earned the win in relief. Brodie Downs (1-3) suffered the loss in relief. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 36th save of the year.
