Patriots Win Game 2 Of Freedom Division Series 3-2

Sugar Land, TX – The Somerset Patriots (2-0) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (0-2) 3-2 Wednesday evening from Constellation Field in game two of the Freedom Division Championship Series. The Patriots have a commanding 2-0 lead over the Skeeters in the best of five series. 

 

In the top of the first inning the Patriots took an early 1-0 lead as right fielder Ryan Langerhans committed an error that led to Somerset tallying a run.

Designated hitter Eddy Martinez-Esteve slugged a line drive solo home run (1) to left field to increase Somerset’s advantage to 2-0 in the top of the sixth inning.

Sugar Land cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth inning as left fielder Steve Moss sliced a RBI single making the contest 2-1.

 

The Patriots added a run in the top of the seventh inning as catcher Koby Clemens committed a throwing error leading to a Somerset run making the score 3-1 in favor of the Patriots. 

 

Clemens atoned for his error in the ensuing half inning by pounding a solo home run (1) to left field to cut the deficit in half as the score was 3-2 which would be the final score.

 

David Harden (1-0) earned the win tossing 6.2 brilliant innings allowing just two runs on six hits. Jason Lane (0-1) suffered the loss lasting six innings surrendering nine hits and one earned run. Jon Hunton (2) notched the save pitching a perfect ninth inning. 

 

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on Friday, September 20th when the Patriots host the Sugar Land Skeeters in Game Three of the Freedom Division Championship Series.
