Oven Fire Knocked Down By Police Using Fire Extinguishers In Bridgewater

Three residents went to the hospital to get checked for possible smoke inhalation on Sunday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Quick-thinking Bridgewater Police Officers and a passerby helped to put out an oven fire that sent three people to the hospital on Sunday.

On June 4 at around 4:15 p.m., Bridgewater Police and Firefighters were called to 723 Kline Place for the report of a structure fire.

Police Officers found the house filled with heavy smoke and a fire contained to the oven, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

Before firefighters arrived, a passerby and police officers used several fire extinguishers to extinguish a well-involved oven fire, said Finderne Fire Department.

The fire was extinguished and three of the residents went to the hospital to get checked for possible smoke inhalation.

Finderne Fire Department, Green Knoll Rescue Squad and Somerville Rescue Squad responded to the scene.

The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.

Volunteers are offered complete protective gear, free training, LOSAP (Length of Service Award Programs), a pay-per-call incentive, a life insurance/disability plan, and an in-house gym.
