Prosecutor, Police Investigate Brush Fire That Injured Firefighters In Bridgewater
The fire last week started on the ridge behind Long Road in Martinsville and spread toward Mountain Park in Bernards Township.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office along with the Bridgewater Township Police are investigating a brush fire that sparked off Long Road, injuring several firefighters last week, announced Prosecutor John P. McDonald and Police Chief John Mitzak on Wednesday.
On Thursday, April 13 at around 3:57 p.m., Bridgewater Township Police got a 911 call reporting a fire at 1482 Long Road. Read More: Firefighters Injured In Hundred Acre Brush Fire In Bridgewater
The fire spread causing damage to more than four acres of woodland property located on Long Road, said McDonald.

Two firemen were taken to the hospital due to injuries they sustained during fire suppression efforts, said McDonald.
The Liberty Corner, Martinsville, Lyons Veterans Affairs, Bedminster/Far Hills, Bernardsville, Warren, and Potterville Fire Companies along with the New Jersey State Forest Fire Service helped to extinguish the fire.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fire Investigation Unit along with the Bridgewater Township Police Department and fire officials are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
It is an active investigation and anyone with information relating to this fire is asked to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fire Investigation Unit at 908-231-7100 or the Bridgewater Township Police Department at 908-722-4111 or via the STOPit app.
