Purse Snatchers Lurk During Holiday Season, Bridgewater Police Warn
Bridgewater Police are warning shoppers to be on alert after thefts of unattended purses were reported.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — With the holiday season upon us, the Bridgewater Police is warning shoppers to be on alert for thefts of unattended purses.
"This has been happening all throughout town. While I was shopping last week I personally witnessed many unattended purses in shopping carts in several locations," said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.
Witnessing that and while typing up the police blotter inspired Lamey to put the post on Facebook.

Lamey sent out the alert on Tuesday night to residents saying they have recently investigated incidents where purses were stolen from shopping carts.
"The purses had been left unattended and the victim was possibly distracted while the actor removed the purse from the shopping cart," said Bridgewater Police Department - NJ.

Lamey said there have been a total of 5 to 6 reports of stolen purses.
Residents are being reminded "to remain vigilant throughout the holiday season. Please keep any valuables close and do not leave them unattended," said police.
