Raritan Man Did 'Doughnuts' In Church Lot, Arrested For DWI
Raritan Police arrested 7 people on drugs, DWI, shoplifting and hindering arrest recently in the borough, according to the police blotter.
RARITAN, NJ — A Raritan man was among four people arrested for driving while intoxicated in the borough recently.
Jon Kelty, 38, of Raritan was arrested on Dec. 15 for driving while intoxicated after police were dispatched to the rear parking lot of St. Joseph’s Church at 16 East Somerset St. for a suspicious vehicle.
It was learned that Kelty had been doing “doughnuts” in the snow covered parking lot and he ran out of gas, police reported. Sgt. Thomas Fisher made the arrest.

On Dec. 16: Raritan Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bell Avenue for a dispute. While conducting an investigation, it became apparent there were signs of narcotics activity at the residence. As a result of the incident, Danielle Deluca, 22, of Raritan, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, third degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sgt. Thomas Fisher and Detective Steven Bonczek investigated the incident.

On Dec. 19: Frank Jackson, 52, of Dunellen was charged with third degree shoplifting as a result of a theft that occurred at the AT&T Wireless store on Route 202 Oct. 2. Through an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division, it was learned Jackson had stolen approximately $900 worth of electronic equipment from the store. Jackson was later identified as the suspect after a witness obtained his license plate, which was an Enterprise rental vehicle. Detectives Christopher Wren and Steven Bonczek investigated the incident.
On Dec. 20: Shadi Ahmed, 20, of South Bound Brook was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on East Somerset Street. Officer Benjamin Griffin made the arrest.
On Dec. 23: Lauren Shanahan, 25, of Hillsborough was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Orlando Drive. Officer Benjamin Griffin made the arrest.
On Dec. 24: Kevin Verile, 42, of Parsippany, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Route 202. Sgt James Raniere made the arrest.
On Dec. 24: David Papera, 48, of Raritan was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Old York Road. Officer Robert Sinopoli made the arrest.
On Dec. 24: Allan Stephens, 46, of Somerset was arrested for hindering apprehension after he provided officers with a false name during a motor vehicle stop on Route 202. It was discovered Stephens had $1,200 in warrants issued by the Montgomery Township Municipal Court. Stephens was lodged in the Somerset County Jail. Officer Joseph Nepomuceno made the arrest.
