DISTRICT 7, NJ — Congressman Tom Malinowski (District 7) is calling on his fellow legislative members to return to session to take action against President Donald Trump, including possible impeachment.

"We need to be considering everything from impeachment to censure to Congress doing its part to involve the 25th amendment," said Malinowski in an interview with CNN.

Malinowski noted that there are a significant number of Republicans who are ready to take action against Trump now.

"The executive branch of the United States is in complete disarray and led by a man who is borderline deranged, who is responsible for inciting a violent attack against the United States Congress to stop us from doing our jobs," said Malinowski in the interview.

"The most important thing right now is for the Legislative branch, for Congress to remain in session. I think it was a mistake for our leadership to send us home last night although people were frazzled and tired. We need to be in these buildings and working," continued Malinowski.

Malinowski was among many Congressmembers to be locked down inside Capitol Hill as terrorists broke their way inside.

He described some of the events inside when the mob first began to break in.

"We could hear banging on one of the doors. Police frantically urging one another to barricade the doors. We were asked to take out our gas mask... There was a wailing siren from each of these gas masks, which contributed to an atmosphere I have not seen in this house in my time here," said Malinowski. "There were staff in the Capitol, who I have spoken to, who literally had to barricade doors with furniture, who hid in darkened offices under tables as these terrorists were banging on the doors."

Members of Congress resumed the electoral count at 8 p.m. ET., after the Capitol was secured.

On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the 25th Amendment should be invoked to remove Trump from office, if not "Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment."
