Hazards included drainage issues that lead to icy conditions, tripping hazards on the pathway and deteriorating wooden planks on bridges.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Safety improvements and construction is underway at Alfred S. Brown Park in the Bradley Gardens section of the township to correct several hazards.
Hazards included drainage issues that lead to icy conditions in the parking lot, tripping hazards on the pathway and deteriorating wooden planks on the small bridges.
The Bridgewater Department of Public Works began correcting these issues in December at the park which is located right next to Bradley Gardens Primary School.

Since December the DPW has cleaned and repaired existing drains and is considering adding additional drains after further inspection that will come in the coming months, according to Wells Winegar, spokesman for Bridgewater.
Sections of the path that were deemed hazardous have been temporarily replaced with stone and will be repaved in the coming months.

Most of the wood planks that were deteriorating on the foot bridges were also replaced.
The project is expected to be completed by late March or early April. The project is being funded through DPW’s existing operating budget, Winegar said.
"This is a continuing effort for Bridgewater Public Works, specifically our Parks Division and our partners at the Bridgewater Park Board to continually assess the needs of our parks and attempt to make small improvements to benefit our residents who use the parks," Winegar said.
