Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued By Somerset County

A storm is moving into our area Thursday bringing 60 mph wind gusts that could damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued by the Somerset County Public Service Thursday night.

The warning is in effect until around 6:15 p.m. as a severe thunderstorm was located over Princeton, or 10 miles northeast of Trenton, around 5:30 p.m., according to the Somerset County

This storm could bring 60 mph wind gusts that could cause damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible.

"For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. In addition to damaging winds, cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning," according to Somerset County.

Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 70. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 50. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: A chance of showers, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 55.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 35.
