Sinkhole Closes I-287 To I-78 Ramp In Bedminster
All lanes are closed and detoured on Friday in Somerset County.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A sinkhole from 2022 has caused the Interstate 287 North to Interstate 78 East ramp in Bedminster to close on Friday morning in preparation for a permanent repair, said New Jersey Department of Transportation Spokesman Steve Schapiro.
As a result, long-term road construction is expected on the I-287 northbound ramp at Exit 21 for I-78, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation's 511NJ website.
All lanes are closed and detoured as of 1 p.m. on Friday.

"In June 2022, the ramp was closed and detoured until a temporary ramp could be constructed, allowing the exit ramp to reopen in July 2022. Since that time, NJDOT has been designing a permanent repair to the ramp, including drainage improvements, erosion control, and reconstruction of the roadway," said Schapiro.
The permanent repair is expected to begin in a few weeks and will require the closure and detour of the ramp, according to Schapiro.

The sinkhole first appeared in June 2022 causing the ramp to close for construction until July 26, 2022 when a temporary ramp was put in place. Read More: I-287 To I-78 Ramp Reopens After Sinkhole In Bedminster
