Six Charged With Shoplifting At Bridgewater Stores

Bridgewater Police also reported charging 2 people with driving while intoxicated and one with marijuana possession.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Six people were charged with shoplifting at Bridgewater stores recently, according to the police blotter.

On July 24 at 9:53 p.m.: Alyssa N. Kline, 19, of Branchburg and Chelsey N. Borke, 18, of Somerville were arrested for shoplifting merchandise from Target at the Bridgewater Promenade.Kline shoplifted clothing worth $91 and Borke shoplifted clothing worth $117. Both were processed for the arrest and released with a pending court appearance.

On July 25 at 4:37 p.m.: Andre D. Thomas, 23, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from Target at the Bridgewater Promenade. Thomas shoplifted baby formula worth $249. He was processed for the arrest and released with a pending court appearance.

On July 30 at 6:35 p.m.: Pamela M. Gelfand, 37, of Green Brook was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from Target at the Bridgewater Promenade. Gelfand shoplifted items worth $109. She was processed for the arrest and released with a pending court appearance.

On July 31 at 3:14 p.m.: Deysi Lopez-Sarmiento, 29, of Bound Brook was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from Target at the Bridgewater Promenade. She shoplifted clothing worth $307. She was processed for the arrest and released with a pending court appearance.

On Aug. 2 at 3:31 p.m.: Karla M. Reiss, 66, of Flemington was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from Wegmans at the Bridgewater Towne Center. Reiss shoplifted food worth $127. Reiss was processed for the arrest and released with a pending court appearance.

On July 28 at 5:54 a.m.: Christopher Ju, 33, of East Brunswick was arrested for DWI and resisting arrest following a motor vehicle stop on Foothill Road. He was issued summonses for DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving and obstructing safe passage. He was also charged with resisting arrest. He was released with a pending municipal court appearance.

On July 28 at 12:37 a.m.: Joseph Helgesen, 32, of South Plainfield was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Route 22 east. He was issued summonses for DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and failure to exhibit registration and insurance. He was released with a pending court case in municipal court.

On July 20 at 7:29 p.m.: Kevon Christian Burnett-Deroche, 26, of Jersey City was stopped for a motor vehicle violation at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. During the stop officers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. Burnett-Deroche was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and controlled dangerous substance(CDS) in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a future court date.
