Get A Sneak Peek Of The New COVID Mega Site In Somerset County: Photos, Video

The site opens at the Bridgewater Commons for appointments and walk-ins Wednesday with the first 500 people eligible for a $25 gift card.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The new COVID-19 vaccination mega-site opens in Somerset County on Wednesday. Get a peek at how the process will run.

Where: The site is at the Bridgewater Commons mall at the former Lord & Taylor store at 400 Commons Way in Bridgewater.

Parking: Those coming to the site should park in lot 10 between Bloomingdales and the old Lord & Taylor. Access to the site is only available from the outdoor entrance. No entrance is allowed in the mall.

When: The site is open for walk-ins and appointments. Hours are Wednesdays 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment at rwjbh.org/bridgewater.

Vaccines: All vaccines are available including Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson along with pediatric doses and boosters.

Who: Adults and eligible children five years old and older can come to the site.

Children's area: A children's area is set up away from the adults with tables complete with coloring equipment and crafts and a TV playing movies to keep busy.

Sensory room: A special room is set up away from everything where children and adults who have Autism or other sensory issues can go to get vaccinated in a quiet area without distractions. There are also police therapy dogs on-site to help ease anyone's anxieties.

Gift cards: The first 500 people to walk-in or attend a scheduled appointment will receive a $25 Visa gift card, while supplies last.

Tips: Register online ahead of tip to avoid filling out paperwork on site. Registering on-site can take about 20 minutes.

"I encourage everyone to come to the mall to do your holiday shopping and give your holidays a boost," said Somerset County Commissioner Douglas Singleterry.

Singleterry added that Somerset County has the highest vaccination rate in the state at 76.5 percent.

"Over the past year we have worked tirelessly to get people vaccinated here in Somerset County," said Singleterry. "We are starting to see the number of infections creep up. We need to stay vigilant, we need to make sure everyone has an opportunity to get vaccinated, and equally important, we need to make sure people have the opportunity to get their booster shots."

The mega-site is run in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Health, Somerset County, the U.S. National Guard and RWJBarnabas Health.

This is NJ's 10th mega site to open since the pandemic began.
